Let’s Get Digital

Pixelated prints and oversized imagery on clothing are not new to the fashion world, however they have been making quite an impact this year on a few of our favourite designers. Although pixels and digital media tend to make me reminise over my ol’ school Atari days and hours spent playing Pac-Man and Space-Invaders with my little brother, inspiration for our designers have come from other various sources – such as flowers, art, dragons, and even goldfish!

My favourite pixel-inspired collection would be that of Matthew Williamson Fall 08. I love his use of bright bold colours (although the lighter coloured variation with the diamantes is also very pretty) and the mixture of textures he used in his pieces. Sequins, fur trimming, velvet and tassels, all very cleverly put together giving his designs a modern edge. I also like Topsop Unique’s printed tunic top below – it is more understated and almost vintage looking.

Pixel-inspired jewellery and accessories are also available for those of you who are big fans of the digital/tech world. Not really my cup of tea, but would make fun pressies for those tech-geek friends of yours (and we all have at least one of those in this day and age).
